Jumpstart Your Singapore Math Online 2021

***2022 Registration Opens Soon***

Jumpstart Your Singapore Math® Instruction – Online is an intensive learning opportunity that will cover all the essential elements of Singapore’s highly-acclaimed math program, including strategies, number sense, model drawing, and curriculum.

  • Are you a teacher new to the Singapore approach to math instruction?
  • Looking for a refresher to boost your math teaching skills?
  • Wanting to incorporate the best practices from Singapore into your current curriculum?
  • Just curious about the reasons for Singapore’s remarkable success?

We have an online program for you. As much as we’d love to work with you in-person, we know that many states are in limbo right now, awaiting budget and schedule decisions for fall, however, we are fully prepared to support you and your teachers with the best training possible in these unusual circumstances. And so…

We’re thrilled to announce that we are offering the sessions as a synchronous/asynchronous (or choose your buzzword: video and live, online, remote…) course.

Here’s how it works:

Part 1: Video Course

Beginning Wednesday, July 14, you will have access to almost 6 hours of recorded lessons covering the basics of Singapore Math, along with a Math Champions Sourcebook. The course covers the bulk of the mathematical content we typically address during onsite Jumpstart workshops.

  • Module 1: What is Singapore Math? What are the foundations and pedagogy of the curriculum? What should a typical lesson look like?
  • Module 2: What are the addition and subtraction foundations I need to know? How do I teach mental math strategies?
  • Module 3: How do I teach multiplication facts? What mental math strategies for multiplication and division do I need to know?
  • Module 4: How do I use place value discs to teach the four operations for whole numbers and decimals?
  • Module 5: What is bar modeling? How do I teach bar modeling in a classroom?

Part 2: Live meetings! **Note the live Zoom meetings are complete. There are videos of the Q & A for each session included at the end of the course. We will begin a new workshop cycle in August 2022!

We know what it’s like to drink from a firehose. There’s so much information and it can be hard to know what questions to ask. We also know that good professional development is sustained professional development. To ensure you get the most out of the program and are successful in the classroom, you will get access to:

  • One day of live Zoom meetings on August 20, 2021. There will be times dedicated for follow-up questions for teachers of grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8. (Exact schedule on August 20 to be determined)
  • Monthly 90-minute follow-up sessions for the first three months (September 27, October 27, and November 29) when you are getting started with the curriculum. At these sessions, you can ask questions, discuss classroom challenges, and connect with other teachers who are working their way through Singapore Math, too! In August there will be a survey to determine which time is best for attendees.
  • You can always email Cassy when new questions arise.

Why Math Champions?

Since 2008, Math Champions’ Teacher-Trainers have helped thousands of teachers understand and effectively teach elementary mathematics. Our overarching goal is to provide teachers with the content knowledge, skills, and confidence to deliver instruction that instills in students, success, a love of math, and problem-solving skills that last a lifetime.

This workshop is for current and potential users of

  • Dimensions Math
  • Primary Math
  • Math in Focus – even the new MiF 2020!
  • Eureka/EngageNY
  • Think Mathematics
  • anyone interested in incorporating these techniques into their own classroom, regardless of their current curriculum.

  1. I need to know if the $595 for Singapore training includes only one student.

    Thanks
    Deborah

  2. Hi,

I am starting the course a little late, but I trust I can be on the live session in Jan/Feb since I missed the September one?
    Thanks,
